THALASSA offers services that cover all aspects of coastal engineering modelling and its integration to climate change adaptation strategies, coupling waves, hydrodynamics, sediment transport and morphology evolution in order to deliver advanced solutions for coastal protection, harbour/coastal structures design and coastal zone management projects.
THALASSA brings together experience from over 40 Research Projects and over 200 Engineering Design Projects, ranging from climate change impact assessment (erosion, flooding) to tsunami hazard mitigation, from shoreline change to three-dimensional morphology evolution, and from beach nourishment to harbour and coastal protection works design.
THALASSA services are based on a set of in-house advanced modelling tools tested through years of experience in research and engineering practice, which are capable of simulating the full range of processes governing coastal dynamics, from wave generation and transformation to wave-current interaction and coastal inundation, and from wave-structure interaction to coastal morphodynamics.
THALASSA's engineers have a combined presence in more than 50 peer-reviewed Journal Publications (counting over 600 citations) and more than 100 International Conferences, highlighting the scientific background of the provided services and continuous involvement in the development of relevant research.
